What we keep, and why.

The short version

Meet Cute stores what it needs to show an invitation and collect replies, and nothing else. We don't run ads, we don't sell or rent anyone's information, and we don't track you across other sites.

If you make an invite

To sign in we keep your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the name and profile picture Google shares. We ask Google for nothing beyond that: no contacts, no calendar, no files.

We store what you put into the invite: the cover photo or video, the headline and subtitle, who it's from, the date, time and place, any video link, the song you chose, and the reminders. If you add a phone number or email for FaceTime, your guests can see it.

Anyone who has the link to an invite can open it, including its cover photo or video. Treat the link like the invitation itself.

If you reply to an invite

We store the name you type, your answer, how many people you're bringing, your note if you write one, and your email if you choose to leave it. The host sees all of that. Other guests see only how many people are coming and the first letter of some names.

Your browser keeps one small cookie per invite so you can change your reply later. It is not used for anything else.

If the host is going to FaceTime you, you leave your phone number with your reply. Only the host sees it, on their guest list.

If you say you're running late, the host sees how late and anything you add, and is told on their phone unless they switched that off.

Notifications

Notifications start switched on: when you reply that you're coming, or publish an invite, your phone asks whether Meet Cute may send them, and nothing is sent unless you allow it. Guests get reminders, word of a change of plans and the host's updates; hosts are told when someone replies, answers one of their updates, or is running late. To deliver them we store the address your phone's maker gives us for that purpose (Apple for iPhones, Google for Android and Chrome), tied to your reply or your account. We send it the text of the notification and nothing else.

Switch them off on the invite, or on your list of invites if you're a host, and we delete the address straight away. Turning them off in your phone's settings works too: the next message bounces and we delete the address.

If you left an email with your reply and your phone isn't set up for notifications, the same reminders, changes and updates from the host reach you by email instead. Every one of those emails has a link that stops them for that invite.

Who helps us run it

Meet Cute runs on a few services that handle information on our behalf: Vercel hosts the site and stores uploaded photos, videos and audio; Neon stores the invites and replies; Clerk handles signing in. Song previews are played directly from Apple, so Apple sees that your device asked for the clip. If you sign in with Google, Google knows you signed in to Invite. Notifications travel through Apple's or Google's delivery service, depending on your phone. Emails are sent through Resend, which is given your email address and the text of the message.

These services are based in the United States.

Keeping and removing it

Invites and replies stay until they are removed. A host can delete an invite from its page; its replies, uploads and notification sign-ups go with it. To have a reply or your whole account deleted, write to razeidan@gmail.com from the email address involved and say what you want removed. We'll do it and confirm.

Children

Meet Cute is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
